installation, 2002

Continuing his series of meditative dark-space works, young Chicago-based artist Yuichiro Nishizawa presents a finely-tuned installation experience that unfolds with a visitor's exploration. Parting a white sheet reveals a corridor that expands, until a single red light is met deep within. Hanging at heart height, the light is seen to be a bead of water that grows, throwing the light around the small space, before dropping into a basin at the viewer's feet. This piece rewards those who give it the time it deserves.
