Designed by Gino SarfattiRead Bio

The iconic 2097 Chandelier designed by Gino Sarfatti has served as an ultra-modern interpretation of the traditional mid-century chandelier since 1958. Every detail of this state-of-the-art fixture is exceptional, from the chic polished or matte steel structure to the individual horizontal arms supporting each light. Draped socket cords add intrigue and intricacy to the design, and the main cord meanders gracefully alongside the suspension cable from the ceiling down to the central column. The exposed bulbs glow bright and fill your space with warm ambient illumination.

Notes:

  • The incandescent options and Matte White LED options are UL listed. The other LED options are not UL listed.

Gino Sarfatti (1912-1985) stands as a towering figure in the realm of Italian lighting design. His visionary creations, characterized by their elegant simplicity and functional brilliance, continue to illuminate homes and public spaces worldwide.

Born into an affluent family in Venice, Italy, Sarfatti's early life was marked by a keen interest in art and design. After pursuing aeronautical engineering studies, he gravitated towards the world of lighting, recognizing its transformative power to shape spaces and enhance human experiences.

In 1939, Sarfatti founded Arteluce, a company dedicated to producing innovative lighting solutions that reflected his modernist sensibilities. His designs were distinguished by their clean lines, geometric forms, and emphasis on functionality. He believed that lighting should not merely illuminate but also complement the architectural environment and enhance the user's well-being.

Sarfatti's creations garnered international acclaim, earning him two prestigious Compasso d'Oro awards in 1954 and 1955. His 559/A pendant lamp and 1055/A table lamp, both recipients of these accolades, epitomized his design philosophy of blending elegance with practicality.
