Originally designed in 1971 by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzu, the Parentesi Ceiling to Floor Lamp features a bulb suspended by a steel cable that runs from the floor to the ceiling. The bulb is held in place by a tubular bracket resembling a parentheses symbol, for which the piece is named. The bracket bends the cable to create tension that holds the lamp in place at any height, which can be easily adjusted by sliding the tube along the cable. The lamp holder can be swiveled to provide direct lighting in any direction, making this simple yet ingenious design highly versatile. The piece is anchored by a weighted base and an included hook and canopy. Plugs into wall. On/off switch on socket. Made in Italy.
