Specification Sheet / Technical Files
If by his works ye shall know him, then Omar Carraglia's is a simple, quiet soul, but fiercely devoted to precision, and capable of intense power.
Carraglia's collaboration with Davide Groppi and his studio has produced a wide variety of designs that are nonetheless marked by a consistent sleekness and modernity. Narrow and focused, with a clean line and defined geometric contrasts, Carraglia's 2012 Mira family of lamps shape and define the focus of any space, while his ABA 120 floor and ABA 45 table lamps bring a sense of newness to a classic form.
Playfulness is another essential quality of many of Carraglia's designs. This inherent sense of fun can be seen from the whimsical Imu, an outdoor lamp in the shape of a brightly-coloured birdhouse, to the tongue-in-cheek Charles, which evokes Darwinian theory by tracing the evolution of the lightbulb in a single wall fixture, to Carraglia's 2013 Mister floor lamp, a response and companion piece to his own 2006 Miss suspension.
Pigreco, a new table lamp released by Davide Groppi in 2019, reveals some intriguing new choices from Omar Carraglia. Most notable is the inclusion of a natural wood base, which brings a warmth and earthiness to the lamp, which itself is a partially-frosted glass sphere. Pigreco evokes the soft and rounded shapes of Carraglia's Cathode and Light My Fire designs, but merged with his fascination with precision into the perfection of a sphere.
Elegant. Sleek. Classic. Omar Carraglia.
