Robert Dudley Best (1892-1984), a British manufacturer, was a key figure in the Modern design movement between the wars. He championed modern design principles at his family's engineering works, most famously designing the iconic Bauhaus-style Bestlite lamp used by Winston Churchill. Best had trained in metal design in Germany and advocated for improved art education for apprentices.
