About Alessandro Pedretti
Alessandro Pedretti was born in 1966 in Milan, where he graduated in Architecture.
Pedretti won the first prize at the International competition Osram New Light in 1992 with a project for an innovative energy-saving sustainable lighting appliance.
In 1995, Pedretti started to design products in the fields of furnishing, office, urban spaces for Italian and international companies, including Abet Laminati, Emmemobili, Ferro, Meritalia, Modo.
Specializes his lighting design activity through the development and implementation of projects for public and private concerns, hotels, retail stores, museums, including the lighting of the high-speed line LAM of the city of Brescia and the interior and lighting design of the 20th-century Museum in Milan, officially opened in 2010.
Designs award-winning products, also nominated for the Macef, IF Gute Form, Adi Index Selezione Compasso d'Oro awards. His products are on display at the world road show The new Italian Design.As a partner of Studio Rota since 1998, designs and signs architectural and interior design projects, set-ups for public and private commercial and exhibiting venues in Italy and abroad, as well as art, design and fashion shows.
His cooperation with Artemide started in 2000 with outdoor products (Emporium, Oriente, Disc, Stone light, Ciclope, Cefiso, Ippolito), indoor products (Vulcania, Tracia, Filippi, Calenda), and research products (Also Sextans). Developed lighting scenarios and appliances with Artemide R&D, dedicated to special innovative projects for architectural and urban spaces.
In 2005 and 2006 designed the set-up for Star Wars the Show and for the show Looking for for the Milan Triennale.
Consultant for magazines, galleries, and design institutions on the research, valorization, and exhibition of design products at the premises of institutions and art or design museums around the world.Was appointed scientific advisor for the New Design Museum of Milan.
Was a professor at the NABA and the Faculty of Industrial Design in Milan, as well as a visiting professor at the IUAV in Venice, at the Domus Academy and the IULM in Milan; his projects or interventions are published in outstanding architecture and design magazines around the world.
