About Lucy Slivinski
A pioneer in the world of reclaimed materials, Chicago-based Lucy Slivinski evolved from an academic in the world of fiber to a sculptor and found objects installation artist. Spending much of her time in the scrapyards of Chicago, Slivinski crafts larger-than-life pieces using salvaged materials from bicycles to discarded metal links. Her foray into lighting explores the relationship between manufactured scraps and organic forms, culminating in one-of-a-kind pieces that look as beautiful turned off, as they do lit. With exhibitions in Miami, New York City, Paris and Chicago, and public commissions in Grant Park, Prudential Plaza, Logan Square and beyond, Slivinski continues to reshape the world of reclaimed materials, one sculpture at a time.
