AV Egoist Chaise Longue

SPEC #: SIB1301384

ID: SIB10110897-148

Designed by Arne VodderRead Bio

The AV Egoist Chaise Longue was originally designed in the early 1950s by Danish designer Arne Vodder, but only a few pieces were manufactured at the time. Sibast Furniture, with the help of Vodder's son Michael, have reintroduced this underappreciated gem for the current day based on photographs and Vodder's original sketches.

The AV Egoist Chaise Longue features the hallmarks of mid-century Danish Modern design with its molded wood veneer frame, solid wood legs and woven leather seat. The chaise's bold, angular silhouette is contrasted by the rich texture of natural materials for a warm, inviting expression.

        About Arne Vodder

Arne Vodder (1926-2009) was a prominent Danish architect and designer in the mid-20th century. In the mid-1940s, Vodder studied at the School of Interior Design under master carpenter Niels Vodder and graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1947 where he studied architecture under his mentor Finn Juhl. In the 1950s and 60s, Vodder collaborated closely with Sibast Furniture, where his designs were exported to clients around the world including US president Jimmy Carter and Pope Paul V. His style is marked by elegant, organic forms and a masterful understanding of materials that would help shape the Danish Mid-Century Modern movement.
